Founded in 1994 in Egypt by a group of dedicated Coptic volunteers, the Shepherd and Mother of Light became an official organization in 1999 under the blessing of the late HH Pope Shenouda III. Our mission is to support families living in extreme poverty, focusing on those surviving on less than 10 cents per day. The organization aims to lift these families from below the poverty line to a dignified standard of living where their basic needs are met.
Our service began in Australia in late 2009 and was officially registered as a charity in 2011. We are dedicated to raising funds to support our mission in Egypt. With zero administrative fees and an all-volunteer team, every dollar raised goes directly to those in need.
Your donation enables us to renovate and build homes where even the most basic necessities are missing. Many of these homes lack roofs, running water, electricity, bathrooms, and any furniture—fundamental elements needed for survival. By the grace of God, our social service and housing programs are able to reach these families and bring them hope.
Your contributions also open the door for Jesus to enter their lives, hearts, and homes through our spiritual development programs, which include spiritual days, summer retreats, and personal visits to each family. Our Mission
Our mission through the grace of God, is to raise the standard of living for people who are currently below the poverty line in Egypt, to a humane level of existence. We focus on their development until they become self sufficient.
We have many programs already established that range from education to health care to social services.
